Smart Flexibility Comes Inherent with Raptivity

What is the maximum number of text characters that can be used in an interaction? Well, that’s a common question that pops up in the mind of any instructional designer who starts using a tool. Raptivity users are no different. They too have the same question in their minds. In this post we’ll discuss various flexible controls offered by Raptivity interactions for text addition. Different types of learning needs have to be kept in mind while designing interactions. Raptivity offers a variety of flexible controls to serve the same purpose. These controls have been designed to help users get optimum output from any interaction without having them do lot of thinking and planning. These controls are designed in a structure which gives maximum power with certain restrictions for users to quickly create their interactions on their own. Let us go through a few interactions to understand it better.

Tabbed Display

Have a look at ‘Tabbed Display’ interaction below. The images showcase two different usage scenarios for this interaction. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Sample 1"]Tabbed Display[/caption] [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Sample 2"]Tabbed Display Interaction[/caption]

Sample 1 uses more text to describe each tab while the second one has lesser characters. The titles also differ in both the interactions. The first sample has a long title while the other one has a more precise title.

The above scenarios could be displayed effectively and differently because Raptivity provides flexible controls at most places to adjust the text area. Following image showcases this flexible control:

Flexible Control to change size of the control

Because of this control, the number of text characters to be used in an interaction is not restricted. Also, one can select different font styles and font sizes to work on the content length in specific scenarios.

Ladder Steps

Another great example of flexibility is the ‘Ladder Steps’ interaction. Check out the following images to see the difference.

Mind Map

Let’s take a look at one more interaction – The ‘Mind Map’. Click on the image below to view the sample.

Mind Map - Raptivity Evolve Interaction

In this sample, every node/stub can be selected as small, medium or large based on the number of characters to be used. The nodes/stubs auto re-size based on the amount of text entered. The description box is optional for each node/stub. In the above sample, the description box is used to share more information about a particular node instead of adding too much content on node itself. (Check out the below image.)

Mind Map interaction with description box

One can add as much text as required in the description box. The description box supports a variety of alignment options based on the content such as only text, text and image on right/left/top, only image etc. In all the above samples, Raptivity does not restrict the number of characters to be used in an interaction. Thus, even though Raptivity supports template based interactions, it provides a lot of flexibility to its users. It allows users to customize the interactions as per their needs rather than confining them to certain limitations.
